Prayer Shawl Ministry

Overview

The Mary, Queen of Peace Prayer Shawl Ministry provides prayer shawls, blankets, hats and scarves to the cancer wing at North Memorial Hospital and to those in our church community that need the comfort of a prayer shawl. Prayer shawls are wearable hugs crafted with love and intent from maker to recipient. It is these prayers imbued in the shawl with each stitch that make them what they are, to bring comfort to those in need. All items are blessed by Father before being delivered to the hospital to be handed out.

The ministry was created by Dave and Barb Paschke in memory of their daughter, Ruth Ann, who passed away from cancer in 2017. Since 2017 more than 300 prayer shawls have been crocheted and knitted by our members and donated back into the community. We also have a few members that hand-sew fleece blankets that are delivered to the children in the emergency room at North Memorial Hospital.

Financial Support

The financial support to purchase yarn and fabric has come from the Rogers Lions Club, MQP Knights of Columbus, MQP Council of Catholic Women and welcomed donations from the community. If you would like to support our ministry and donate yarn or fleece, please contact us via our email as stated above.
